Three Killed, Three Injured in Single-Vehicle Crash in South Carolina

INDIAN LAND, SC. – Three people were killed, and three more were injured January 27 in a single-vehicle crash that occurred near the border between South Carolina and North Carolina, according to an online news story reported at The three people who lost their lives in the crash have been identified by officials.*

The accident occurred in the early morning hours of January 27 on Highway 521. A Honda Accord that was traveling south on Highway 521 somehow left the roadway near Indian Land, North Carolina. The Honda ran off the right side of the highway and crashed in a wooded area off the edge of the road. The crash occurred near the Transformation Church campus.

It is not yet clear what caused the Honda driver to travel off the road. South Carolina Highway Patrol responded to the scene, and Troopers did not provide any information about the cause of the accident or potential causes that they might be investigating.  

Six people, including the driver, were riding in the Honda at the time of the accident, according to authorities. Three passengers sustained fatal injuries, and officials pronounced them dead at the scene of the crash. They have been identified as 30-year-old Demarco Frazier, 31-year-old Sandra Coffey, and 40-year-old Crystal Johnson. The victims’ cities of residence were not included in reports. 

The other three people in the car were injured, and emergency medical crews took them to area hospitals for treatment. This included the 27-year-old driver, a 22-year-old passenger, and a 33-year-old passenger. Their names and medical conditions were not reported.
