Husband, Wife Killed in Collision with Tennessee Highway Patrol Officer

MOUNT PLEASANT, TN. – A husband and wife were killed January 27 in a vehicle collision with a Tennessee Highway Patrol officer, according to an online news report published at The couple reportedly pulled into the path of the officer on a residential street in Mount Pleasant, Tennessee.* 

The collision occurred on the morning of January 27 on North Main Street in Mount Pleasant, Maury County, Tennessee. A passenger car was pulling out of private driveway on the road and drove into the path of a northbound Highway Patrol cruiser. The cruiser then crashed into the driver’s side of the car. 

It is not clear why the driver of the car did not yield to the patrol cruiser. Authorities did not say whether the driver’s view was obstructed or whether the driver was not looking down the road. No possible factors leading to the collision have been reported. 

The driver of the car and the passenger in the car were severely injured and did not survive. Officials pronounced them deceased at the scene. The driver has been identified as 77-year-old Robert Frazier, of Mount Pleasant, and the passenger has been identified as 76-year-old Ruby Frazier, of Mount Pleasant. The two were husband and wife. Authorities said neither was wearing a seat belt at the time. 

The Tennessee Highway Patrol officer involved was Trooper Michael Gray. It does not appear Gray was injured, and Troopers said no charges would be filed against him. It appears he could not have done anything to avoid the accident. No further information has been released at this time.
