Pedestrian Hit by Transit Bus in Nashville, Tennessee
NASHVILLE, TN. – According to an online news story reported at wsmv.com, a pedestrian was struck by a transit bus January 28 in Nashville, Tennessee. It is not clear how the accident happened. The pedestrian was injured and taken to a hospital for treatment.*
The accident happened on the morning of January 28 on 5th Avenue in downtown Nashville. At approximately 8:45 a.m. a WeGo transit system bus hit a pedestrian on the 5th Avenue level of Music City Central. Police reported that the pedestrian was trying to board a bus at Music City Central as the bus was pulling away from the stop. It is not clear if the bus he was trying to board was the one that hit him or if it was another bus.
The man was injured in the accident, and an emergency crew took him to a nearby hospital. The nature of his injuries was not reported, and his current condition is not known. Authorities did not release the man’s name, age, or city of residence.
The bus driver has also not been identified. It does not appear anyone on the bus was injured.
Following the accident, WeGo issued a public statement, saying, “This morning, a pedestrian attempting to board a departing bus was struck at WeGo Central. The incident took place on the 5th Avenue level of Central and was immediately addressed by Metro Nashville Police Department officers on the scene. The pedestrian was transported for medical attention, [and his] current condition is unknown at this time. WeGo staff is full cooperating with MNPD’s ongoing investigation.”
