January 31, 2019

ALBANY, GA. – Three people were injured January 28 in a multi-vehicle wreck in Albany, Georgia, according to a news story published online at Three vehicles were involved in the collision, and all three drivers suffered injuries. One of the drivers was cited in connection with the wreck.*

At approximately 2:15 p.m. on January 28, a van, a car, and a sedan collided at the intersection of Palmyra Road and 11th Avenue in Albany. Reports indicate a 2009 Ford Econoline van and a 2012 Chrysler 200 were headed south on Palmyra Road, while a 2014 Nissan Frontier was headed west on 11th Avenue. At the intersection of the two roads, the Nissan driver either ran the stop sign or did not stop long enough.

The Nissan entered the intersection and collided with the Ford van. The impact then sent the van crashing into the Chrysler. Photos from the scene show the Nissan truck off the roadway on Palmyra, partially sitting in a private yard at the intersection with 11th Avenue. Extensive skid marks are seen in the accident photos. The other two vehicles are not pictured.

The drivers of all three vehicles sustained injuries, and emergency responders transported them to local hospitals for treatment. The extent of their injuries is not known, and none of the drivers has been identified at this time. It is not clear if any passengers were inside any of the vehicles.

The Albany Police Department issued a citation to the driver of the Nissan for failing to yield after a stop sign. Police are still in the process of reviewing the accident, and no further information has been released at this time.
