Man in Critical Condition After Being Hit by Vehicle in Savannah, Georgia

January 29, 2019

SAVANNAH, GA. – According to an online news story posted to wtoc.com, a man is in critical condition after being hit by a vehicle January 27 in Savannah, Georgia. The driver of the vehicle has been identified, but the pedestrian’s name has not been released at this time.*

The crash occurred on the afternoon of January 27, though reports did not specify what time. A vehicle traveling west on Montgomery Crossroads in Savannah struck a man who was trying to cross White Bluff Road east to west at Montgomery Crossroads. It is not clear if the man was walking inside a designated crosswalk at the time.

The man sustained serious injuries, and an ambulance crew transported him to Memorial Medical Center for treatment. His injuries are reportedly life-threatening. His current medical condition has not been released, nor has his name. He has been identified only as a 45-year-old man from Beaufort, Georgia.

No information about the vehicle involved was reported, but the driver has been identified as Imani Roper. Roper’s age and city of residence were not included in reports. It does not appear Roper was injured in the collision. Police did not indicate whether she was cited at the scene or whether she could face charges.

The north lanes of White Bluff Road were shut down after the accident to allow crews to investigate. This caused traffic in the area to back up. The Savannah Police Department posted a message on social media after the accident, saying, “[Traffic Investigation Unit] is responding to a pedestrian involved crash at Montgomery Crossroads and White Bluff. The northbound lanes of White Bluff will be closed while the investigation is being conducted. Please seek an alternate route.”
