Three Injured in Vehicle Crash at Florida Hospital

January 29, 2019

CRYSTAL RIVER, FL. – According to an online news report from chronicleonline.com, three people were injured in a vehicle crash at a Florida hospital on January 24. A car and an SUV collided at the exit of a hospital in the area of Crystal River, Florida. All three injured persons have been identified.*

Shortly before 5 p.m. on January 24, a silver BMW 328i was leaving Bayfront Health Seven River Hospital, which is located on U.S. Highway 19 and Emerald Oaks Drive near Crystal River. The BMW driver started to pull out of the hospital exit onto U.S. Highway 19 and failed to observe a red light.

The BMW then drove into the path of northbound Jeep Grand Cherokee that was traveling 60 mph. The driver of the Jeep attempted to brake to avoid an accident but the Jeep struck the driver’s side of the BMW. Both vehicles then rotated on the highway.

The driver of the BMW was injured and transported to the hospital for treatment. The BMW driver has been identified as 67-year-old Manojkumar Bhanuprasad Shukla, of Crystal River. Shukla’s injuries are reportedly “non-incapacitating.”

The driver of the Jeep and a passenger in the Jeep were also injured and taken to the hospital. Their injuries are reportedly incapacitating. The driver was identified as 40-year-old April Lin Bowers, of Inglis, Florida, and the passenger was identified as 40-year-old Shannah Brook Romano, of Inglis. Their current conditions are not known.

Florida Highway Patrol cited Shukla for failure to obey a traffic control signal. Troopers also reportedly cited Bowers for driving without insurance, driving without a valid vehicle registration, and unknowingly driving without a valid license.
