Driver, Passenger Killed in Vehicle Crash in Greene County, Tennessee

January 29, 2019

GREENE COUNTY, TN. – According to a news story published online at, a driver and passenger were killed January 22 in a vehicle crash in Greene County, Tennessee. Investigators are still trying to determine the cause of the crash, which involved only one vehicle.*

On the evening of January 22, at about 8:30 p.m., 37-year-old Jennifer Cronk, of Mosheim, Tennessee, was driving a 2005 Hyundai Elantra on Weems Chapel Road. It is not clear what direction she was traveling at the time. As Cronk approached the intersection with Carpenter’s Chapel Road, she lost control of the vehicle. The Hyundai then ran off the road and struck a tree.

A passenger in the vehicle, 32-year-old Jennifer Blevins, of Chuckey, Tennessee, suffered severe injuries and did not survive. Officials pronounced her deceased at the scene of the accident.

Cronk was also seriously injured, and an ambulance crew transported her to a nearby hospital for treatment. Officials later pronounced her deceased at the hospital.

Tennessee Highway Patrol Troopers reported that neither woman was wearing a seat belt when the Hyundai crashed into the tree. However, Troopers added that seat belts likely would not have changed the outcome.

At this time, the cause of Cronk’s loss of control has not been determined. Charges were initially pending against Cronk before authorities learned of her death. Reports did not indicate at what speed she was traveling and did not list any potential contributing factors in the crash. No other vehicles were involved.

Tennessee Highway Patrol is continuing its investigation of the wreck, and no further information is available at this time.
