Alabama Teenager Indicted for 2018 Triple-Fatality Vehicle Crash

January 31, 2019

ST. FLORIAN, AL. – As reported in an online news story from enewscourier.com, an Alabama teenager has been indicted in connection with a 2018 triple-fatality vehicle crash that occurred in St. Florian, Alabama. The crash killed three teenage boys and seriously injured a teenage girl.*

On the night of April 26, 2018, 17-year-old Ms. Boggus (then 16) was driving a vehicle on County Road 30 in St. Florian. Four other teenagers were in the car at the time. As Boggus traveled over a hill, she lost control of the vehicle and veered off the roadway. The vehicle crashed through a fence and struck a tree.

Boggus and another female passenger, then 16 years old, were seriously injured and airlifted from the scene. Boggus was flown to UAB Hospital, and the other teen was flown to Huntsville Hospital. Three male passengers in the vehicle, ages 17, 16, and 16, did not survive the crash. The three boys were all students at Wilson High School. Boggus and the other girl in the vehicle were students at Florence High School.

At the time of the accident, the roadways were wet, the area was foggy, and investigators believed that Boggus had been speeding. On January 24, Boggus was indicted on three counts of vehicular manslaughter and one count of second-degree assault. Prosecutors claim she was traveling at an excessive rate of speed and that her recklessness caused the deaths of the three boys.

The court documents did not list the exact speed at which Boggus was traveling on the night of the crash. It is not clear when she is due back in court.
