Five Injured in Multi-Vehicle Wreck in Orange County, Florida

ORANGE COUNTY, FL. – According to an online news report published at, five people were injured January 24 in a multi-vehicle wreck in Orange County, Florida. Two children were among those injured in the wreck.* 

The accident occurred in the afternoon on January 24 on Colonial Road in Orange County. At about 3:30 p.m., a woman was driving east on Colonial Road and attempted to change lanes near the intersection with Good Homes Road. 

As she moved into another lane, the woman struck an eastbound van and an eastbound SUV. The woman then continued across the center lane of the roadway and collided with a westbound pickup truck. The makes and models of all the vehicles were not reported. 

During the wreck, several of the vehicle were damaged, and one of the vehicles overturned and landed on its roof. Firefighters reportedly had to remove the roof of one of the vehicles to free its occupants. Photos from the scene show what appears to be a beige Ford Escape or Ford Edge on its roof next to a guardrail on the roadway. The other vehicles involved in the wreck were not pictured.

Florida Highway Patrol says seven people were inside the four vehicles. Five people, including two children, were injured. Troopers said two adults and the two children suffered minor injuries. The driver of the first vehicle, who has been identified as 50-year-old Chawanda Canady, of Orlando, Florida, suffered serious injuries. 

Authorities reportedly issued Canady a citation for failure to maintain a lane, driving with a suspended license, and driving without insurance. No further information about the wreck has been reported at this time.
