One Killed, Two Injured in Construction Accident in Raleigh, North Carolina

RALEIGH, NC. – According to an online news report published at, one person was killed and two others were injured January 22 in a construction accident in Raleigh, North Carolina. Little information about the accident has been released at this time, and the workers involved have not been identified.*

The accident occurred sometime on Tuesday, but reports did not say what time. The North Carolina Department of Labor stated people were performing work at a construction site where new affordable housing was being built. The construction location is in north Raleigh, near the triangle Town Center shopping mall. 

It appears a barrier at the construction site somehow collapsed and trapped at least three people. Emergency responders and other people at the site were able to dig out two of the workers who had become buried.

Emergency crews then transported these two workers to Wake Medical Center in Raleigh for treatment. They have not been identified at this time, and the extent of their injuries is not known. Current medical conditions have not been reported. 

A third worker involved in the collapse did not survive. This person was deceased when crews were finally able to reach him or her. Officials pronounced the person dead at the scene. His or her identity has not been released. 

The cause of the collapse has not been determined. Reports did not say what company or companies were handling the construction project, nor did they list the employers of the workers involved in the accident. No additional information about the accident has been reported at this time.
