Passenger Killed in Vehicle Crash in Cartersville, Georgia

CARTERSVILLE, GA. – As reported online by a news article from patch.com, a passenger was killed January 22 in a vehicle crash in Cartersville, Georgia. The crash started as a single-vehicle accident, but a second vehicle became involved due to the trajectory of the first vehicle. The victim of the crash has been identified by officials.* 

The accident occurred in the late afternoon on January 22 on Peeples Valley Road in Cartersville. At approximately 4:30 p.m., a 2007 Chevrolet Cobalt was traveling south on Peeples Valley Road, when the driver somehow lost control left the roadway near Valleydale Drive. It is not yet clear what caused the driver to lose control and travel off the roadway. 

The Chevy veered off the east side of the road and hit several trees. It then rotated and re-entered the roadway in the northbound lanes. The Chevy then collided with a northbound 2016 Mercedes Benz.

A passenger inside the Chevy was critically injured and did not survive. Officials pronounced him dead at the scene. He has been identified as 30-year-old Phillip D. Bagley, of Cartersville. 

It is not clear if the driver of the Chevy was injured. The driver has not been identified at this time, but he or she might face charges, depending on the outcome of an investigation. 

It is also not clear if anyone inside the Mercedes was injured in the accident. No other people have been identified. 

The Georgia State Patrol Specialized Collision Reconstruction Team is investigating this crash, and no further information has been reported at this time.
