Two Fire Trucks Crash in Same Spot in Walton County, Georgia

January 26, 2019

WALTON COUNTY, GA. – Two fire trucks have crashed in virtually the same spot within a week of each other in Walton County, Georgia, according to a news story reported online at The causes of these accidents are still unknown, and multiple firefighters were injured.*

On January 18, a truck with the Social Circle Fire Department was traveling along Hawkins Valley Road and somehow crashed off of the roadway and into a wooded area along the road. The fire truck was the only vehicle involved, and two firefighters were injured. One of the firefighters has been released from medical care and is recovering, but the other is still in the Grady Memorial Hospital intensive care unit.

Investigators still do not understand how the crash occurred but felt a little déjà vu in responding to the scene. A week earlier, a fire truck with the Walton County Fire Department crashed at nearly the same spot on Hawkins Academy Road. In this crash, the truck also traveled off the road and crashed into the wooded area, and it was the only vehicle involved.

Two firefighters were also hurt in this crash. Their current conditions have not been reported. None of the four firefighters involved in the two crashes has been identified.

Georgia State Patrol is working to find out whether the crashes were eerie coincidences or whether they were both the result of a hazardous aspect of the road that needs to be corrected.

Reporters talked to people who lived in the area, and one person told them that numerous accidents had occurred at this part of the road in only a few months. The resident estimated about six crashes had happened there.
