CLEBURNE COUNTY, AL. – According to an online news story published at al.com, Georgia State Patrol Troopers assisted at the scene of a deadly semi-truck crash on January 22 in Cleburne County, Alabama. The crash occurred on Interstate 20, and Georgia Troopers helped regulate traffic around the scene.*

At approximately 8 p.m. on January 22, a car was traveling west on I-20 in Cleburne County. The make and model of the vehicle was not reported. Around mile marker 211, the driver of the car somehow lost control and crashed into a semi-truck.

It is not yet clear what caused the driver to lose control and crash. Alabama authorities have not provided any information about potential causes for the accident. A photo from the scene shows a dark-colored car with extensive damage to the front and passenger’s side. The vehicle looks to be a two-door sports car.

A passenger in the car was ejected during the crash, and another passing vehicle struck the passenger in the roadway. This person did not survive, and officials pronounced him or her deceased at the scene. The passenger’s name has not been released. It is not clear if the driver of the car or anyone in the semi-truck was injured.

Alabama State Patrol responded to the scene, and the westbound lanes of I-20 were completely shut down. Georgia State Patrol came to the scene to assist, and GSP Troopers helped to direct traffic. They diverted drivers onto Exit 5 of the interstate to help emergency responders investigate and clear the scene. No further information was reported.
