Authorities in Greenville County, SC, Looking for Hit-and-Run Driver

GREENVILLE COUNTY, SC. – Authorities in Greenville County, South Carolina, are looking for a driver involved in a fatal hit-and-run crash on January 20, according to an online news report at The victim was reportedly riding a moped and was struck by a pickup truck on Highway 25.* 

The collision happened on the evening of January 20, but it is not clear what time. A man was riding a moped on Highway 25 in Greenville County and was rear-ended by a pickup truck near the area of McKinney Road. The crash occurred a little north of Travelers Rest, South Carolina. It is not clear what direction the two vehicle were traveling at the time. 

The driver of the moped was ejected after impact, and he suffered fatal injuries. The Greenville County Coroner’s Office pronounced the victim dead at the scene. The coroner’s office has identified him as 49-year-old Kevin Wesley Brooks, of Travelers Rest. 

The coroner’s office added that multiple vehicles struck Brooks. It is not clear if the additional vehicles struck him after he was lying in the road. Reports did not indicate whether the other drivers stayed at the scene, but the driver who rear-ended Brooks’s moped fled the scene. South Carolina Highway Patrol is still searching for this driver.

The suspect’s vehicle is described as an older model pickup. The make, model, and color were not reported. South Carolina Highway Patrol’s Multi-Disciplinary Accident Investigation Team is still reviewing the case.
