Two Firefighters Injured in Crash in Walton County, Georgia

WALTON COUNTY, GA. – Two firefighters were injured January 18 in a vehicle crash in Walton County, Georgia, according to an online news report posted at cbs46.com. The fire truck was the only vehicle involved in the accident, and no details about how the crash occurred have yet been released.* 

The accident happened sometime in the afternoon on January 18 on Hawkins Academy Road in Walton County. A fire truck was reportedly traveling on Hawkins Academy Road and somehow crashed between Social Circle FairPlay Road and Knox Chapel Road. It is not clear what agency the fire truck belongs to or what direction the fire truck was traveling at the time.

No other vehicles were involved except the fire truck. No information about the cause or circumstances of the crash has been reported at this time. Pictures from the scene show the engine of the truck crushed and torn and the contents of the truck strewn all over the roadway. 

Two firefighters were injured in the crash. They have not been identified, and it is not clear if they were the only people on the truck at the time. One of the firefighters sustained serious injuries, but he or she is reportedly in stable condition at a hospital. The other firefighter was treated at a hospital and has since been released. 

After the accident, the Walton County Sheriff’s Office posted a message on social media saying, “Our thoughts and prayers are with both of [the firefighters] and all of their firefighter brothers and sisters.” 

The crash investigation is ongoing, and no additional information has been reported at this time.
