Five-Vehicle Wreck Shuts Down I-675 in Stockbridge, Georgia

STOCKBRIDGE, GA. – As reported online in a news story from, a five-vehicle wreck shut down all the southbound lanes of Interstate 675 in Stockbridge, Georgia, on January 19. Little information about the wreck has been released at this time. It is not yet clear if anyone was injured.* 

The accident occurred in the afternoon on January 19. Sometime before 1:30 p.m., five vehicles somehow collided on I-675 South, near Stockbridge Road in Stockbridge. The makes and models of the vehicles were not reported, and no information was provided about the cause of the accident or the nature of the accident. 

It is not clear whether anyone was injured in the wreck, and no one involved has been identified. A photo from the scene shows what looks to be a tractor-trailer blocking all southbound lanes on the interstate. It is not clear if this vehicle was involved in the collision. 

Following the accident, traffic on I-675 and around the area became extremely delayed. Authorities closed all southbound lanes on the interstate to allow crews to investigate and clear the scene. It is not clear which emergency agencies responded or if anyone required transport to a hospital. 

The Georgia Department of Transportation reported that drivers in the area should find alternate routes or try to exit the interstate at U.S. Highway 23 (Macon Highway), which was the last unblocked exit before the wreck. Georgia DOT expected the interstate to remain totally closed or partially closed for several hours. The estimated time of reopening was 3:30 p.m.

Authorities are still investigating, and no additional information has been released at this time.
