I-75 Shut Down After Sheriff Deputy Involved in Wreck in Floyd County, Georgia
FLOYD COUNTY, GA. – Interstate 75 was shut down on January 14, after a sheriff’s deputy was involved in a vehicle accident in Floyd County, Georgia, according to a news report published online at mdjonline.com. The cause and circumstances of the accident have not yet been reported, and the Floyd County Sheriff’s Office has not commented.*
A Floyd County Sheriff’s deputy was transporting two inmates on Interstate 75 South and somehow crashed. It is not clear where on the interstate the accident occurred, as reports did not indicate an exit or mile marker.
Officials have not said what prison the inmates were from or where the deputy was transporting them at the time. It is not clear if any other vehicles were involved in the crash, and no information was reported about how the crash happened. The deputy and the inmates have not been identified.
It is not known whether the deputy was injured, but reports stated the two inmates were transported to a local hospital to be checked for injuries. It does not appear the inmates suffered visible injuries.
