Man Killed in Single-Vehicle Wreck in Berkeley County, South Carolina

BERKELEY COUNTY, SC. – According to an online news report published at, a man was killed January 12 in a single-vehicle wreck in Berkeley County, South Carolina. The cause of the accident is not clear, and little information about the wreck has been released. The victim has been identified by the county coroner’s office.* 

The accident occurred in the late afternoon of January 12 on Highway 41 in Berkeley County. Shortly before 5 p.m. that day, a vehicle was driving on Highway 41 and somehow crashed in the 7700 block of the roadway in Jamestown, South Carolina. It is not clear what direction the vehicle was traveling or how the crash occurred. Authorities did not release any information about the nature of the crash.

Only one vehicle was involved, according to South Carolina Highway Patrol. The make and model of the vehicle were not included in reports. The driver of the vehicle suffered severe injuries and did not survive the crash. The Berkeley County Coroner’s Office pronounced the driver deceased at the scene. 

Berkeley County Coroner George M. Oliver has identified the driver as Terry Rouse, of Mount Pleasant, South Carolina. Rouse’s age was not reported. Oliver said Rouse was wearing a seat belt at the time of the crash. The coroner’s office did not release a cause of death. 

It does not appear any passengers were in the vehicle at the time of the accident, and no other injuries were reported. South Carolina Highway Patrol is still in the process of investigating the wreck, and Troopers have not yet released further information.
