One Killed, Three Injured in Vehicle Crash in Oconee County, South Carolina

OCONEE COUNTY, SC. – As reported online in a news story from, one person was killed and three people were injured in a vehicle crash on January 14 in Oconee County, South Carolina. Two children were among those injured in the wreck, and the cause of the crash has not yet been determined by authorities.*

The crash occurred in the afternoon of January 14 on Lawrence Bridge Road in Oconee County. At about 4 p.m., 25-year-old Alex Braden Richardson, of Seneca, South Carolina, was driving a 2016 Ford (model not reported) north on Lawrence Bridge Road. He was reportedly on his way home from working with the City of Walhalla.

At the intersection with Plantation Road, Richardson crossed over the centerline of the roadway and traveled into the southbound lanes. Richardson’s vehicle then collided nearly head-on with a 2005 Ford truck (model not reported). It is not yet clear why Richardson crossed over the centerline. Authorities have not reported on any potential factors. 

Richardson was trapped in his vehicle after the crash and did not survive his injuries. The Oconee County Coroner pronounced him dead at the scene. The cause of death was listed as blunt force traumatic injuries and was ruled an accident. 

The driver of the Ford truck and two children in the truck were injured, and emergency crews transported them via ambulance to Oconee Memorial. They have not been identified, and the nature of their injuries is not known. 

South Carolina Highway Patrol is still investigating and has not yet reported further information to the public.
