Coroner Identifies Victim of Pedestrian Hit-and-Run in Macon, Georgia

January 20, 2019

MACON, GA. – The Bibb County Coroner has released the identity of the victim of a January 15 pedestrian hit-and-run crash in Macon, Georgia, according to an online news report from macon.com. Macon Police are still searching for the missing driver responsible for the woman’s death.*

At approximately 1:40 a.m. on January 15, a woman was walking on Pio Nono Avenue in Macon. In the area south of Newberg Avenue, a vehicle driving north on Pio None Avenue hit the woman. The driver of the vehicle then left the scene and has not yet been apprehended.

The woman was fatally injured, and officials pronounced her deceased at the scene of the accident. Bibb County Coroner Leon Jones has now identified her as 62-year-old Vickie Davis, of Macon. Davis reportedly was a resident of a boarding house on West Grenada Terrace. It is not clear if she was walking to or from this residence at the time of the crash.

Authorities believe the vehicle that hit Davis is an older Ford F-150 pickup truck, possibly from the late 1990s or early 2000s. Investigators say the truck is white and has a damaged front grille. If anyone can provide information about the whereabouts of the driver or the vehicle, they should immediately contact the Bibb County Sheriff’s Office at (478) 751-7500 or Crime Stoppers at (877) 68-CRIME.

The northbound lanes of Pio Nono Avenue were closed for around two hours after the crash on January 15, while investigators reviewed the scene and cleared the area. The crash investigation is ongoing.
