LABADEE, HAITI – According to an online news story published at, a 16-year-old boy died January 11 after falling on a cruise ship that departed from Fort Lauderdale, Florida. The ship was currently docked in Labadee, Haiti, at the time of the incident.*

On January 11, 16-year-old Laurent Mercier, of Wallis and Futuna, France, was aboard a Royal Caribbean Harmony of the Seas cruise ship. The ship was scheduled for a seven-day trip through the Western Caribbean, departing from Port Everglades in Fort Lauderdale.
