Family Searching for Hit-and-Run Driver that Injured Teen in South Fulton, GA

January 18, 2019

SOUTH FULTON, GA. – A family is still searching for a driver that hit and injured a teenager in South Fulton, Georgia, then left the scene, according to a news story reported online at fox5atlanta.com. The accident occurred in mid-December 2018, and the 19-year-old victim sustained serious injuries.*

On the night of December 17, 2018, 19-year-old D’Jahnay James was walking home from work and attempted to cross a road in Union City, Georgia. James was crossing from in front of the 7 Star Wings restaurant to the QuickTrip on the other side of Jonesboro Road, when she was struck by two vehicles.

In the teen’s description of the accident, she says the first driver hit her, and she was trying to get up when the second driver hit her. The second driver did not see her before hitting her, she said, and this driver stopped and remained at the scene. The first driver, however, fled the scene.

James sustained serious injuries, including fractured ribs, a fractured hip, a broken leg, a collapsed lung, and numerous lacerations. Emergency medical responders transported her to Grady Memorial Hospital for treatment, and she has since been released. She is now recovering at home with her family, but she is still unable to walk without a walker or crutches.

After the collision, investigators obtained video surveillance footage from a business on Jonesboro Road, but they were not able to identify the make or model of the vehicle that first struck James. At this time, the driver of that vehicle is still missing. And as the days go on, frustration mounts for the family and James, who says she just wants her life back.
