Driver Charged with Vehicular Homicide After Rear-End Collision in Dacula, GA

DACULA, GA. – According to an online news story published to, a driver has been charged with vehicular homicide and a string of other crimes after a rear-end collision January 11 in Dacula, Georgia. The driver’s passenger was killed in the collision, and two people in the other vehicle were injured.*

At approximately 10:30 a.m. on January 11, 40-year-old Michael Hall, of Bethlehem, Georgia, was driving a Chevrolet Malibu west on State Route 316 in unincorporated Dacula. At the intersection with Hurricane Trail, traffic was slowed, and Hall failed to reduce his speed. As a result, Hall crashed into the back of a westbound Toyota Rav4.

Hall failed to stop even after impact and continued forward, pushing the Rav4 about 200 feet into and through the intersection. The Rav4 came to a stop in the grass median of the roadway, and the Malibu came to a stop in the right turn lane of the road. 

The driver of the Rav4, 19-year-old Lesly Jimenez, of Athens, Georgia, and an unidentified passenger in the Rav4 were injured and transported to a nearby hospital. Their injuries are reportedly non-life threatening. Another unidentified passenger in the Rav4 was not injured. 

A passenger in the Malibu, 37-year-old Alishia Williamson, of Bethlehem, was critically injured and taken to a local hospital. The Gwinnett County Police Department reports she died of her injuries on January 14. Police indicated she was not wearing a seat belt at the time of the crash. 

Hall sustained minor injuries and was transferred to police custody after treatment. Based on information gained in preliminary investigation, Hall has been charged with homicide by vehicle, driving under the influence, possession of methamphetamines, possession of marijuana, serious injury by vehicle, reckless driving, and following too closely.
