Two North Carolinians Injured in Tennessee Deadly Vehicle Crash
POLK COUNTY, TN. – According to an online news story reported at chattanoogan.com, a two North Carolinians were injured in a deadly January 8 vehicle crash that occurred in Polk County, Tennessee. A Tennessee woman died in the crash, and the cause of the crash has not yet been officially determined.
The accident happened in the afternoon on January 8 on State Highway 314. At about 2 p.m., a vehicle (make and model not reported) was traveling south on Highway 314 and came to a small curve in the road. In driving through the curve, the driver of the vehicle lost control and crossed over the middle line of the roadway. The vehicle passed into traffic in the opposite direction and struck a northbound vehicle head-on.
The southbound vehicle then spun and left the side of the road. The northbound vehicle (make and model not reported) traveled farther and hit a concrete mailbox. After hitting the mailbox, the vehicle stopped in a private yard.
The driver of the southbound vehicle was identified as Delores Stewart, of Benton, Tennessee (age not reported). She suffered severe and sadly fatal injuries in the accident, and emergency responders pronounced her dead at the scene. Police said she was not wearing a seat belt but did not indicate if the seat belt would have changed the outcome.
The driver of the northbound vehicle, Mildred Seal, was injured in the accident. A passenger in Mildred Seal’s car, Bill Seal Jr., was also injured. Both Mildred Seal and Bill Seal are from Andrews, North Carolina. Their ages were not reported. Both were taken to a nearby hospital for treatment of their injuries, and their current conditions have not been reported.
