Drivers Injured in Vehicle Collision in Fort Walton Beach, Florida
FORT WALTON BEACH, FL. – As reported online by nwdailynews.com, two drivers were injured January 2 in a vehicle collision in Fort Walton Beach, Florida. It is not yet clear what caused the crash, which occurred in the afternoon in a residential neighborhood in Wright, Florida.*
The collision took place at approximately 1:25 p.m. on January 2 at the intersection of Beverly Street and Union Street in Wright. A Ford F-150 pickup truck and a Jeep Grand Cherokee somehow collided at the corner of the two streets. Officials did not report which directions the vehicles were traveling. They have also not released a cause of the crash or any potential contributing factors.
An unidentified witness at the scene told authorities that she saw the F-150 crash into the Jeep, causing the Jeep to rollover. It is not clear whether this statement implicates the driver of the F-150 in the crash. Pictures from the scene show the F-150 stopped off of the roadway, and the Jeep turned over on its roof in a grassy area on the side of the roadway. The front of the F-150 is not visible, but the Jeep has extensive damage to one side.
The driver of the F-150 sustained an injury to his right leg, and emergency responders transported him to a local hospital. The driver of the Jeep expressed back pain after the crash, and he or she also went to a local hospital. Neither driver has been identified at this time.
Florida Highway Patrol and the Ocean City Wright Fire Control District responded to the scene. Troopers are continuing their investigation of the accident and have not yet reported further information.
