Crash in Cobb County, Georgia, Leaves One Dead, One Injured
COBB COUNTY, GA. – A vehicle crash in Cobb County, Georgia, left one person dead and one person injured, according to an online news report from ajc.com.*
The crash occurred on Interstate 75 South in Cobb County, Georgia. A sedan and an SUV pulling a boat somehow collided near the State Route 120 Loop/Marietta Parkway. When Marietta Police arrived at the scene, the sedan was so damaged that officers could not determine the make and model of the vehicle. The boat had come off the SUV’s trailer and was in the middle of the roadway.
The driver of the sedan, only identified in reports as a woman, was pronounced dead at the scene. Her name has not been released. A passenger in her car was transported to a local hospital with critical injuries. The passenger has only been identified as a man, and his current medical condition is not known.
The driver and passengers in the SUV are reportedly in stable condition. It is not clear if they were taken anywhere for treatment of injuries. Police are not sure what caused the accident at this time. They are trying to determine whether the boat fell off the SUV and caused the crash or whether the boat fell off the SUV after the crash.
The southbound lanes of I-75 were shut down for at least three hours after the crash to allow crews to investigate, move the boat, and clear the wreckage. Marietta Police are asking anyone who might have witnessed the accident to contact the department and make a report.
