Pedestrian in Critical Condition After Crash in Macon, Georgia

MACON, GA. – A pedestrian is in critical condition after a traffic crash in Macon, Georgia, according to an online news story from The crash occurred on January 5, and the nature of the crash has not been fully reported at this time.*

Police say the accident took place on the evening of January 5 in Macon. At a approximately 6:50 p.m., a vehicle traveling westbound on Hartley Bridge Road struck a pedestrian who was in the roadway. Reports did not indicate whether the pedestrian was walking on the side of the road or was attempting to cross the road. It is also not clear what direction the pedestrian was walking. 

The driver of the vehicle (make and model not reported) has been identified as Steven Lawson. Lawson’s age and city of residence were not reported. The Bibb County Sheriff’s Office did not release any information about what caused Lawson to crash into the pedestrian. The sheriff’s office did not identify any factors that might have contributed to the accident. 

The pedestrian has been identified as Ralph Dewayne Dorminy, of Macon. Dorminy’s age was not reported. Officials said Dorminy sustained serious injuries in the accident, and emergency crews took him to a local hospital via ambulance to receive treatment. He is reportedly still in critical condition. The extent of his injuries is not known. 

The Bibb County Sheriff’s Office is handling review of this case, and deputies are still conducting their investigation. They have not indicated whether charges are possible against the driver of the vehicle that hit Dorminy. No further information about the accident has been reported at this time.
