Woman Dead, Man Injured After Moped Accident in Walker County, Georgia
WALKER COUNTY, GA. – According to an online news report from newschannel9.com, a woman is dead and a man injured after a moped accident in Walker County, Georgia. The accident occurred on January 5, and charges are pending against the driver of the vehicle that collided with the moped.*
The accident happened on January 5, though it is not clear what time of day. Two people were riding a Kymco 50 moped southbound on the outside lane of Georgia Highway 27. Reports say the collision occurred somewhere near Kristy Lynn Drive on Highway 27 in Walker County. According to Georgia State Patrol Troopers, a 2015 Ford F-150 hit the moped from behind.
The driver of the moped, 36-year-old Anson Miller, of Dalton, Georgia, sustained injuries, and emergency crews transported him to Erlanger for treatment. The extent of his injuries and his current condition are not known.
The passenger on the moped, 21-year-old Jessica Lollar, of Dalton, was thrown from the moped after impact and sustained critical injuries. An ambulance crew took her to a hospital in Chattanooga, Georgia, where she tragically died of her injuries.
The driver of the F-150 has not been identified, and it does not appear he was injured in the crash. He reportedly told authorities that he did not see the moped before he ran into it. He did not provide a reason he did not see the moped. Troopers with Georgia State Patrol indicated that they are still investigating the crash, and charges could be filed against the truck driver.
