Man Dies After Struck by Two Vehicles in Henry County, Georgia

HENRY COUNTY, GA. – According to an online news story from, a 66-year-old man died after being hit by two cars in Henry County, Georgia. One of the drivers stopped to render aid, but the other left the scene. The man is being remembered as a person dedicated to his faith and his community.* 

66-year-old Robert Jones was walking on Highway 20 in Henry County. It is not clear if he was on the side of the road or attempted to cross the street. Two vehicles on Highway 20 struck Jones in the road. As the first driver stopped at the scene to check on Jones, the second driver drove around stopped traffic and hit Jones, then left the scene.

The circumstances of the crash are not completely clear. Officials said he was not in a crosswalk, but it is not clear if one was available. People who knew Jones said he walked every day in this area and was always careful in traffic. He regularly wore reflective clothing to keep himself safe. 

Neither of the drivers has been identified, and the second driver is still missing. Jones’s family and friends are hoping the driver will come forward. No description of the missing vehicle has been released. 

People in the community are mourning the loss of Jones — a man they said was caring, giving, and dedicated to his faith. 

“He was always walking, always talking to everybody, always blessing everybody,” said Timothy McBride, pastor at the church Jones attended, Tabernacle Praise Church International. “[He] would give you the shirt off his back. Hopefully, this person can come forward, and it can bring closure to this whole situation.”
