One Child Killed, One Injured in Vehicle Crash in Atlanta, Georgia

ATLANTA, GA. – One child was killed and another injured in a vehicle crash in Atlanta, Georgia, according to an online news report from patch.com. The child who died was 12 years old, and the injured child is reported to be a toddler. The cause of the crash is not yet known.* 

At approximately 6 p.m. on January 2, a vehicle traveling near Glenwood Avenue SE and Second Avenue SE ran off the roadway and struck a tree. The make and model of the vehicle was not reported. It is not exactly clear what direction the vehicle was traveling or on what street the vehicle first veered off the roadway. It is also not clear what caused the vehicle to drive off the road and crash.

An adult woman and two children were in the vehicle at the time. One of the children, a 12-year-old girl, was unresponsive when emergency responders arrived at the scene. She sustained critical injuries in the crash and was transported via ambulance to Egleston Hospital. She later died of her injuries at the hospital. 

The other child, an 18-month-old toddler, was also injured in the crash. It is not clear if this child was transported anywhere for treatment. He or she is said to be in stable condition. The woman in the car suffered two broken legs. She is said to be 53 years old and was transported to Atlanta Medical Center for treatment. 

The cause of the crash has not been determined at this time. No one involved has been identified. Authorities in Atlanta are still in the process of investigating and have not released additional information.
