School Bus Hit by Car in Paulding County, Georgia

PAULDING COUNTY, GA. – According to an online news report from, a school bus was hit by a car in Paulding County, Georgia. The wreck appears to have been related to rainy conditions.*

A car struck a McClure Middle School bus carrying 52 students on Harmony Grove Church Road. The cause and nature of the crash is not clear. The road was wet from rain, which might have contributed to the crash.

Fifteen students on the bus were transported to WellStar Paulding Hospital to be evaluated. They have all since been released, according to the Paulding County Sheriff’s Office. Parents of the middle school students on the bus were all notified, and some parents came to pick up their children at the scene. Others were taken home on a different bus. The school has not released a comment about the accident at this time. 

No information was reported about the make and model of the car that struck the bus. The driver has not been identified, and it does not appear he or she was injured. 

This is the second crash between a passenger vehicle and a bus carrying more than 50 students in Georgia in five days. On the afternoon of December 5, an SUV collided with a school bus carrying 56 students from Gould Elementary School. The crash occurred at the intersection of Salt Creek Road and Pineland Drive in Garden City, Georgia.  

After impact, the SUV ran off the road and overturned in a ditch. Five people were inside the vehicle, including an infant. No one from the SUV or bus was seriously injured.  The 56 elementary school students were transferred onto another school bus to be transported home.
