Woman Hit by Multiple Vehicles on Alabama Highway 45

MOBILE COUNTY, AL. – According to an online news report from, a woman was hit by multiple vehicles December 30 on Alabama Highway 45. The woman died from her injuries.*

At approximately 6 p.m. on December 30, an unidentified woman was struck by at least two vehicles on Highway 45, near Eight Mile, in Mobile County, Alabama. The drivers of the two vehicles stayed at the scene and contacted authorities. The drivers have not been identified. 

“They were good citizens and stayed until officers arrived to the scene,” said Lt. Robert Martin, of the Prichard Police Department. “Oftentimes, we don’t get that from people, so this time, no charges are pending against either driver.”

The woman’s name has not been released at this time because authorities are having trouble making an identification and notifying family members. The accident caused part of Highway 45 to be closed off near Bellcase Road, about a mile south of the Highway 158 interchange. No additional information has been reported at this time. 

Mobile County, Alabama, is about 250 miles from the Georgia border and Early County, Georgia. According to the Georgia Governor’s Office of Highway Safety, vehicle accidents in Early County have climbed in the last several years. In 2012, a total of 116 vehicle accidents occurred in the county, leading to 35 injuries and three deaths. Those numbers rose during the next few years, and the number of fatal accidents jumped significantly in 2015. A total of 244 accidents occurred in Early County in 2015, leading to 71 injuries and eight deaths. 

During a five-year period between 2012 and 2016, 2015 saw the highest number of fatal vehicle accidents in Early County. During all five years, one or two of the fatal accidents involved either alcohol or speeding.
