Two Drivers Injured in Accident on Georgia Highway 92

FAYETTEVILLE, GA. – Two drivers were injured in an accident on Georgia Highway 92 according to an online news report from thecitizen.com. Neither driver has been identified at this time.*

On the morning of December 24, a Mazda SUV was traveling northbound on Ga. 92 in Fayetteville, Georgia. At the Ga. Highway 92 Connector, the Mazda driver attempted to turn left and crossed into the path of a southbound Dodge Durango. The two vehicles then collided. 

Both drivers were injured in the crash, and the driver of the Mazda reportedly had to be extricated from the vehicle. The drivers’ injuries are said to be non-life threatening. No passengers were in either vehicle. The driver of the Mazda was cited for failure to yield. 

Neither driver has been identified, and the investigation is still ongoing. No additional information has been released at this time.

Fayetteville is located in Fayette County in the north-central portion of the state of Georgia. It has a population of approximately 112,500, and its major roadways include State Route 54, State Route 74, State Route 138, and State Route 314. 

According to the Georgia Governor’s Office of Highway Safety, vehicle accidents in Fayette County have climbed dramatically in the last several years. In 2012, a total of 100 vehicle accidents occurred in the county. Just one year later, that number climbed to 646 accidents. 

By 2016, the annual number of vehicle accidents in Fayette County had risen to 3,371. The accidents in 2016 led to injuries to 788 people and the deaths of eight people. During a five-year period between 2012 and 2016, the highest number of fatal vehicle accidents occurred in 2014, when 10 people died in motor vehicle crashes.
