11-Year-Old Child Hit by Car in Cordele, Georgia

CORDELE, GA. – According to an online news story from walb.com, an 11-year-old child was hit by a car in Cordele, Georgia. The child was seriously injured in the crash.*

The Cordele Police Department reports an 11-year-old child and a 13-year-old child were walking across Highway 280 (16th Avenue) in Cordele, Georgia. A Nissan Maxima struck the 11-year-old child in the 1500 block of the highway. 

The 11-year-old child was transported to Crisp Regional Hospital with serious injuries, including head trauma. The child is reportedly in critical condition. The 13-year-old child was reportedly not injured. Neither child has been identified. 

The driver of the Nissan reportedly stayed at the scene and has been cooperating with police. The driver has not been identified, and it is not clear whether he or she will be cited or charged for the accident. 

“This is truly a sad accident,” said Lieutenant Andrew Roufs of the Cordele Police Department. “We will keep the child and his family in our thoughts and prayers as we monitor his status.”

No additional information has been reported about the accident at this time.
