Oklahoma Tractor-Trailer Crash Leaves One Dead, One Injured

GRADY COUNTY, OK. – According to an online news article from, a tractor-trailer crash left one person dead and one person injured in Grady County, Oklahoma.*

A passenger car was traveling on H.E. Bailey Turnpike toward Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, and pulled into the lane of a tractor-trailer traveling the same direction. The two vehicles collided about four miles north of Chickasha, Oklahoma. The car began rolling after impact. 

The driver of the car, who has not been identified, was injured and transported to a local hospital. He or she has since been released. A passenger in the car, 29-year-old Ashley Pugh, of Bumpass, Virginia, was partially ejected from the vehicle and was trapped for about two hours. She died at the scene. Officials said she was not wearing a seat belt at the time of the crash. 

The driver of the tractor-trailer, who has not been identified, was not injured. It is not yet clear why the driver of the car traveled into the path of the tractor-trailer. Authorities did not say whether the car driver would be charged in connection with the wreck. 

The investigation of the crash is ongoing, and no additional information has been released at this time.

The U.S. also has the fifth-highest rate of motor vehicle deaths based on miles traveled (1.10 deaths per every 100 million miles traveled).
