February 10, 2019

EAST POINT, GA. – According to an online news report from, officials have identified the man killed after being hit by two vehicles and dragged down a road in East Point, Georgia. Both drivers left the scene, and police have located one driver but are still looking for the second.*

The incident occurred at the intersection of Cleveland Avenue and Sylvan Road in East Point. The victim has now identified as a 70-year-old man. The man was walking in the roadway and was struck by two cars. One of the cars dragged the victim’s body about a quarter mile into the Atlanta city limits. Neither driver stopped, and the man tragically died at the scene.

Another report about the incident says the owner of a laundromat on Cleveland Avenue, Wilbur Yancy, saw the victim’s body on the edge of his business’s parking lot and called 911. Right after that, he saw an ambulance and flagged it down. The ambulance crew was already in the area on a report of a pedestrian hit-and-run, and they were looking for the victim.

Surveillance footage recovered from the area showed the two vehicles, and police began looking for the drivers. One of the vehicles was a 2009 Ford Fusion with left front-end damage and a missing left mirror. Police say they have located the driver of that vehicle, though the driver’s name was not released.

Police are still searching for the driver of the second vehicle. It is a green older model Buick Century or Buick Regal. Anyone with information is encouraged to call Crime Stoppers at (404) 577-TIPS or East Point Detective Ebony Bullock at (404) 270-7069.
