Husband and Wife Killed in Collision with Semi in Baldwin County, GA
BALDWIN COUNTY, GA. – According to an online news report from 13wmaz.com, a husband and wife were killed in a collision with a semi-truck in Baldwin County, Georgia.*
John and Joan Woodford, of Macon, Georgia, were traveling westbound in a Ford F-150 on the Fall Line Freeway in Baldwin County. At the intersection with Vinson Highway, a southbound semi-truck ran a stop sign. The F-150 crashed into the left side of the semi-truck, and the semi-truck rolled over on top of the F-150.
The Woodfords were both pronounced dead at the scene. It is not clear whether the driver of the semi-truck, identified as 30-year-old Reginald Renfroe, of Milledgeville, Georgia, was injured. Authorities do not yet know why he ran the stop sign. The truck Renfroe was driving is from Howard Sheppard Company. Georgia State Patrol says its reconstruction team is investigating, and charges are pending.
This is the second major deadly crash to occur in Baldwin County in less than a month. A Toyota RAV4 failed to yield when entering Ga. 29 at Hillendale Drive and was struck by a southbound Dodge Avenger. The Toyota driver, 29-year-old Brooke Shelton, of Monticello, Georgia, was airlifted to the Medical Center, Navicent Health in Macon and died.
The driver of the Dodge was seriously injured. Three children were also riding in the Dodge, including a 6-year-old boy who died at a hospital a few hours after the crash. A 1-year-old child was injured, and a 3-year-old child was not injured.
