Two Students Injured in South Carolina School Bus Crash

DARLINGTON COUNTY, SC. – According to an online news report from, two students were injured in a school bus crash in Darlington County, South Carolina. Few details about the crash have been reported at this time.*

The crash occurred on South Center Road, near Lamar in Darlington County. A Darlington County Schools bus somehow crashed, and two students sustained injuries. It is not yet clear what caused the crash.  

The school system released the following statement the day of the crash: “This morning, there was an accident involving one of our buses in the Lamar community. A car hit our bus, which had 10 elementary students on board. Two students were transported to an area hospital with minor injuries. The other eight were taken to school. All parents were notified. The safety of our students is always our highest priority.”

The two injured students are said to be doing well and are expected to be quickly released. No one involved in the crash has been identified. South Carolina Highway Patrol is still investigating and has not yet released additional information. 

A school bus in Georgia was also involved in a wreck with a car this week. At approximately 4 p.m. on December 10, a car struck a McClure Middle School bus carrying 52 students on Harmony Grove Church Road in Paulding County, Georgia. 

Fifteen students on the bus were transported to WellStar Paulding Hospital to be evaluated. They have all since been released, according to the Paulding County Sheriff’s Office. Parents of the middle school students on the bus were all notified, and some parents came to pick up their children at the scene. Others were taken home on a different bus. The school has not released a comment about the accident at this time.
