Texas Police Looking for Truck Driver Who Ran From Scene of Deadly Crash
SAN ANTONIO, TX. – Police in San Antonio, Texas, are looking for the driver of a box truck who ran away on foot from the scene of a November 28 deadly crash. The story is reported online at ksat.com.*
At approximately 11 p.m., the driver of a Nissan lost control of his vehicle on the ramp to Highway 90 East from Highway 151 in San Antonio. The Nissan hit a concrete barrier on the eastbound lanes of Highway 90 and came to a rest. An eastbound box truck then hit the disabled Nissan, and the Nissan ran into the driver who had gotten out of the Nissan to inspect the damage.
The driver of the Nissan, identified as a 33-year-old man, died at the scene. His name has not been released. The driver of the box truck abandoned the truck and left the scene on foot. Police are still searching for this driver. They have not released any identifying information about him or her.
“It is interesting that the driver didn’t stay,” said Officer Douglas Greene with the San Antonio Police Department. “It makes you wonder why did they run.”
The incident set off several chain-reaction accidents that resulted in minor to some drivers. These drivers were not identified. Police said the box truck driver could have run for several reasons, but leaving the scene of an accident is never going to make a situation better.
“When you leave the scene of an accident, especially if it causes serious bodily injury or death, you’re looking at some serious charges,” Greene said.
When apprehended, the box truck driver will be facing a felony charge of failure to stop and render aid.
