Investigators Looking into Deadly Construction Accident in Fayetteville, Georgia

December 28, 2018

FAYETTEVILLE, GA. – According to an online news report from, investigators are looking into a deadly construction accident that occurred in Fayetteville, Georgia. Little information about the accident has been reported at this time.*

The accident occurred near the Pinewood Atlanta Studios in Fayette County, Georgia. Officials report that a 35-year-old worker, who has not been identified, was operating a frontend loader, and it somehow fell on top of him. He died at the scene. The worker was part of a crew performing construction across the road from the movie studio at the Pinewood Forest development.

No additional details have been released at this time. Authorities have not yet identified the cause of the accident. The investigation is ongoing.

The U.S. Department of Labor’s Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) reports that 4,693 worker fatalities occurred in the private industry in 2016. More than 20 percent of all these private industry fatalities were in the construction industry. In other words, one in every five workers who die in annual workplace accidents are in the construction industry. The leading causes of death for construction workers are part of what OSHA called the “Fatal Four.”

The Fatal Four includes falls (accounting for 38.7 percent of all construction fatalities), struck by object (accounting for 9.4 percent of all construction fatalities), electrocutions (accounting for 8.3 percent of all construction fatalities), and caught in/between (accounting for 7.3 percent of all construction fatalities). Eliminating the Fatal Four would save more than 600 American workers’ lives every year, OSHA says.
