FedEx Worker Killed in Accident at Indianapolis Airport

INDIANAPOLIS, IN. – A FedEx worker was killed in an accident at the Indianapolis International Airport, according to an online news report from No information has been released about the nature of the accident at this time.*

It is not clear what kind of accident it was or how it happened. The victim was an employee of FedEx, which has a large distribution hub at Indianapolis International Airport. The victim has not been identified.

A spokesperson for the Indiana Department of Labor said state workplace safety investigators had been notified of the accident the day after it occurred and were beginning an investigation. The review could take about a month. 

FedEx released a statement offering its condolences to the family of the worker and saying the company was cooperating with investigators. The statement referred questions to airport police. No additional information has been reported. 

A FedEx truck was involved in a vehicle crash November 26 on a Georgia interstate, but no one was injured. The FedEx truck was traveling southbound on Interstate 75 in Cobb County, Georgia, on the afternoon of November 26 and veered into the right shoulder of the interstate. After veering, the FedEx truck hit a U.S. Express truck that was stopped in the shoulder near Barrett Parkway.

The crash badly damaged the trailer of the U.S. Express truck, and packages were strewn across the interstate afterward. The packages were moved out of the lanes of travel and onto the shoulder, and one lane of the interstate was shut down. The drivers have not been identified.
