Police Identify Driver in Fatal Hit-and-Run at Duluth, GA, Gas Station

December 14, 2018

DULUTH, GA. – According to an online news report from wgauradio.com, police have now identified the driver involved in a fatal hit-and-run crash at a Duluth, Georgia, gas station on December 4, 2018.*

At approximately 11 p.m. on December 4, police in unincorporated Duluth responded to a gas station located at 2001 Pleasant Hill Road on a call about a person hit by a car. It appears a 27-year-old woman now identified as Anita Mustafi, of Lawrenceville, Georgia, entered the gas station store and paid for gas and other merchandise. She then exited the store and had an altercation with two women next to her at the gas pumps.

Mustafi got in her vehicle and tried to leave, and the other two women attempted to open her car door. She started to drive away, and one of the women got in front of her car and blocked her. The women then opened Mustafi’s car door, and a physical altercation ensued. Mustafi backed up and hit one of the women with the car’s open door. That woman, described as around age 50, fell to the ground, and Mustafi ran over her with the car.

Mustafi then fled the scene. Two potential witnesses to the incident also left the scene. The woman struck by the car was transported to a local hospital, where she later died of her injuries. Her name has not been released.

At this time, police are putting together felony hit-and-run charges against Mustafi, and she is still on the run. On the night of the incident, she was wearing her hair in a large bun and was wearing a Nike hoodie, matching sweatpants, and a dark jacket.
