PICKENS COUNTY, GA. – A plane crashed into another plane and several vehicles at the Pickens County Airport in Georgia, according to an online news report from Two people were injured in the accident, both of whom were inside the crashed plane.*

The Pickens County Sheriff’s Office responded to the scene November 28 and reported that it appeared a small plane lost control during a landing at the Pickens County Airport and crashed into another plane that was parked on the runway. The plane then continued on, veered off the runway, and struck three vehicles near an airport garage.

Two people inside the plane suffered non-life threatening injuries, according to the Sheriff’s Office, and were transported to a nearby hospital for treatment. It appears the two injured persons were the pilot and one passenger. They have not been identified. No one was inside the parked plane or any of the vehicles near the garage.

One of the vehicles sustained significant damage from being struck by the plane head-on. Another vehicle was also badly damaged, including body damage and shattered windows. The third vehicle was only scratched and was moved from the scene. No fires resulted from the crash, but fuel did leak onto the site. The crash reportedly caused at least one flight out of Pickens County to be delayed.

The Sheriff’s Office was not able to provide any information about why the crash occurred. The National Transportation Safety Board will continue the investigation to determine what caused the accident. No additional information has been reported at this time.
