In addition, two other inmates were injured when hit with debris from the crash, and they were also transported to Meritus Medical Center. They have been identified as Robert Knight and Aaron Abrecht. They are said to have “lesser injuries.” The other two inmates in the six-person crew were not injured and were secured and transported back to the Maryland Correctional Center via a second corrections van called to the scene.

The driver of the tractor-trailer, 53-year-old Frenel Pierre, of Columbia, Maryland, was also not injured. He stayed at the scene and spoke with police. It is not yet clear whether he will face charges.
