FedEx Trucks Crash in Cobb County, Georgia, on Cyber Monday

COBB COUNTY, GA. – According to an online news report from, two FedEx trucks crashed on an interstate on Cobb County, Georgia, on Cyber Monday (November 26). Packages from the trucks were littered on the interstate after the crash.*

The trucks were both traveling southbound on Interstate 75 in Cobb County and reportedly sideswiped each other on the afternoon of November 26. The crash occurred near Barrett Parkway, and the impact caused packages to spill from at least one of the trucks out onto the interstate. The packages were moved out of the lanes of travel and onto the shoulder, and one lane of the interstate was shut down.

The drivers have not been identified, and it does not appear either was injured. November 26 was the day referred to in the retail industry as “Cyber Monday,” one of the busiest online shopping days of the year. Anyone who might have had a package moving on a FedEx truck through Georgia on this day should check tracking information to see if the delivery will be affected by the wreck. 

Interstate 75, Interstate 85, and Interstate 285 are the sites of frequent accidents involving large trucks and buses, according to local reports. These accidents are known for causing serious injuries and fatalities, as well as major traffic delays. In 2016, 179 people died on Georgia roads in accidents that involved a bus or a large truck. 

During the week of August 6, as part of a Large Truck and Bus Enforcement and Educational Initiative, law enforcement officers in Cobb County targeted dangerous drivers in the corridor. In total, the officers issued 932 citations.
