Wreck in I-75 in Dooly County, GA, Causes Two Fatalities

DOOLY COUNTY, GA. – A wreck on Interstate 75 in Dooly County, Georgia, caused two fatalities according to an online news report from Weather was likely a factor in the crash.* 

Heavy rains moved into Dooly County, authorities received a call about a disabled vehicle on Interstate 75 South, near the Pinehurst Exit. A few minutes later, they received another call about a wreck in the same spot. It is not yet clear how the accident occurred. 

Two people died in the crash. One of the victims has been identified as 25-year-old Edward Livatt, of Albany, Georgia. The other has been identified as 77-year-old Donald Johnson, of Jacksonville, Florida. 

Georgia State Patrol and the Dooly County Sheriff’s Office responded to the scene. Part of I-75 South was closed for about four hours while crews cleared the area. Troopers said a semi-truck drove through the debris at the wreck site during this time but did not stop. No additional information has been reported. 

The Dooly County stretch of I-75 has seen numerous accidents in about a month. On October 31, one person died and another was critically injured in a crash on I-75 North in Dooly County. Less than an hour before that wreck, two other crashes occurred at nearly the same location on I-75 South. 

One of these wrecks involved three vehicles and began with a vehicle that stalled in the middle lane of the interstate. Four people were reportedly injured. The second wreck involved a side-swipe collision between a car and a truck pulling a trailer. No injuries were reported from this crash.
