December 08, 2018

OAKLAND, CA. – According to an online news report from wsbradio.com, NBA player Steph Curry was involved in a multi-vehicle accident in Oakland, California. No one was injured in the crash.*

The crash reportedly occurred at approximately noon on November 23 on Highway 24 and involved Curry’s vehicle and at least two others. Curry, who has been recovering from a groin injury, was on his way to practice with the Golden State Warriors. His Porsche was rear-ended by one vehicle and struck on the front end by another vehicle that spun out.

It is not clear how the accident occurred or what set the chain of events into motion. Thankfully, no one was injured in the crash, including Curry. California authorities said weather might have been a factor in the crash. Photos from the incident show significant damage to the front end of Curry’s vehicle. Other photos from the incident, however, Curry smiling and posed next to numerous California Highway Patrol Troopers.

No additional information has been reported about the accident at this time.

According to an article from The Washington Post, about 1.7 million rear-end collisions occur in the United States every year. These are the most common type of vehicle accident in the nation, leading to 1,700 deaths and 500,000 injuries annually. The National Transportation Safety Board estimates that 80 percent of these collisions could be avoided with collision-avoidance systems, like emergency braking systems, available today on many types of vehicles. The NTSB has been encouraging car manufacturers to make these systems standard in all vehicles.
