FedEx Advises Customers to Check Tracking After Two Trucks Crash in Georgia

December 02, 2018

COBB COUNTY, GA. – After a FedEx truck collision November 26 spilled hundreds of packages on a Georgia interstate, the delivery company is advising customers about how to check on lost or damaged packages, according to an online news report from*

Initial reports indicated two FedEx trucks were involved in the crash, but it now appears the wreck involved one FedEx truck and one U.S. Express truck. The FedEx truck was traveling southbound on Interstate 75 in Cobb County, Georgia, on the afternoon of November 26 and veered into the right shoulder of the interstate. After veering, the FedEx truck hit a U.S. Express truck that was stopped in the shoulder near Barrett Parkway.

The crash badly damaged the trailer of the U.S. Express truck, and packages were strewn across the interstate afterward. The packages were moved out of the lanes of travel and onto the shoulder, and one lane of the interstate was shut down. The drivers have not been identified, and it does not appear either was injured.

With the holiday season underway, delivery companies are working in overdrive, and any type of traffic incident like this can interrupt the busy shopping season. People expecting packages through FedEx might want to check their tracking information to see if their deliveries will be affected by the wreck. The company is encouraging customers to search their tracking numbers on or call 1-800-GO-FEDEX with questions about any packages that might have been on the crashed truck in Georgia.

“We are taking steps to recover and transport affected packages,” a representative from FedEx told reporters.
