Police Still on Hunt for Drivers Who Ran Over Pedestrian in Marietta, Georgia

MARIETTA, GA. – November 1, 2018 According to WSBTV.com, police in Marietta, Georgia, are still on the hunt for two drivers who ran over a pedestrian October 10, according to an online news story from wsbtv.com. The pedestrian is still in critical condition, and few leads have come in to police to date.*

At approximately 10:20 p.m. on October 10, Juan Ues (age and city not reported) collapsed in front of an apartment complex in the 700 block of Franklin Gateway in Marietta. It is not yet clear what caused him to collapse. After he fell, two vehicles ran over him. Neither of the drivers stopped after hitting Ues.  

Ues was transported to WellStar Kennestone Hospital with serious injuries. His brother told reporters he is still in critical condition. The Marietta Police Department is desperately seeking the public’s help in tracking down the drivers of the two vehicles. One vehicle is an orange sedan, and the other is a silver sedan with tinted windows, according to police. Police have not said whether any charges will be filed against the drivers.

Marietta is located in Cobb County in the northwestern part of the state of Georgia. According to data from the Georgia Governor’s Office of Highway Safety, Cobb County is the site of numerous vehicle accidents each year. The Governor’s Office of Highway Safety collected data on accidents in the county from 2012 to 2016. In 2012, a total of 11,767 vehicle accidents occurred in Cobb County, leading to 2,860 injuries and 47 deaths. 

By 2016, those numbers had increased to 34,985 total accidents, 8,470 injuries, and 59 deaths. During both 2012 and 2016, more than half of the fatality accidents in Cobb County were related to speeding or alcohol consumption.
