Ga. 400 to Have Double Lanes Closures November 2-4

FORSYTH COUNTY, GA. – November 1, 2018 - According to an online news story from, Ga. 400 will have double lane closures for construction starting in the evening on November 2, 2018.

The lane closures will run from Bald Ridge Marina Road to Highway 20 on Ga. 400 during the weekend of November 3. Closures will begin at 7 p.m. on November 2 and last until about 5 p.m. on November 4. 

The lane closure will allow construction crews to complete the final portions of a resurfacing project along the highway. Drivers should expect delays or plan alternate routes during this time. 

Forsyth County is located in the north-central portion of the state of Georgia. The county has an estimated population of 228,000, and its major roadways include U.S. Route 19, State Route 9, State Route 53, State Route 141, and State Route 400. 

According to information from the Georgia Governor’s Office of Highway Safety, Forsyth County has seen a major jump in vehicle accidents in the last several years. In 2012, only 39 vehicle accidents occurred in the county. By 2016, that number had increased to 5,911 accidents. But while the total number of accidents has risen substantially, the fatality rate has decreased. 

The 39 accidents in 2012 led to 22 deaths, including four pedestrians. In 2016, 11 people died in the 5,911 traffic accidents. No pedestrians died in the 2016 accidents. Between two and nine traffic deaths every year in Forsyth County are related to speeding or alcohol consumption on the part of the one of the drivers.
